Aggie Libertarians

Our first meeting of the semester is Tuesday, January 26th at 8:00pm in Rudder 407.  We'll have Jess Alan Fields, a local business owner and student who is running for city council.  We'll talk about some of the events we have planned for the spring semester: the quadrillion dollar rock-paper-scissors tournament, reefer madness movie night, and speed debating.

Our next meeting will be November 3rd at 6:15 in rudder 503.

Red light cameras will be on the ballot November 3rd. Vote yes if you'd like to get rid of them. 

Civil Liberties

The cameras are a violation of due process.  Because they consider it a civil matter, and not criminal, you don't get all the usual protections.  The ticket goes to the owner of the car, not the driver.  In addition, there is no appeal beyond the municipal court.

On the November 3rd election, College Station residents will decide if they want to keep the red light cameras. (Details are at civilviolation.com.) The Aggie Libertarians will host a Red Light/Green Light tournament in front of Sbisa on October 28th from 8:30-1:00 to let students know about the election. We're also going to give away a total of a quadrillion dollars in cash to the winners.

On August 17, College Station decided to spend $60,000 to install four surveillance cameras around Northgate to spy on you.

If you want to do something about it, meet us at Fish Pond at 9:30pm on October 15th and bring three homemade masks with you. We will walk around Northgate and pass out masks to random people so they can exercise their right to privacy. When we're done, we'll meet up at Antonio's Pizza to eat and get to know each other.

The first meeting of Aggie Libertarians of the 2009-20010 school year is on October 6th at 8:00pm in Bright 124 (map).  At the meeting, I'll introduce the officers and share my vision for where we are headed this year.  We'll also spend some time planning upcoming events.
